The shooting happened Saturday at the Brooklands Plaza Splash Pad, at 1585 E. Auburn Road in Rochester Hills, around 5 p.m.

Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said they were working to determine how many people were shot, suggesting there could be nine or 10 victims. He said at least one victim was 8 years old.

The victims have various types of injuries and several local hospitals have victims being treated. At least one victim has already been released.

The shooter was trapped in a Shelby Township mobile home park for hours after the shooting before killing himself. He has not been identified, but Bouchard said he is known to police.
