Hillside Fire burns over 250 acres near Congress; residents urged to prepare for possible evacuations

CONGRESS, AZ (AZFamily) — A new wildfire has broken out in western Yavapai County, and residents in two areas near Congress are being urged to prepare for possible evacuations.

The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management says the Hillside Fire is burning about 3 miles north of Congress, near Ghost Town Road.

By 7 p.m., the fire had burned 100 acres as winds pushed it south and west.

Currently, the fire is threatening five houses and approximately 43 other houses are in a state of pre-evacuation “SET”.

Earlier in the evening, authorities noted that several fires were raging in the area, particularly near Baghdad airport. Several units are currently on site to fight these fires.
