Man arrested for burglary and threatening with gun in Brattleboro VT

On Friday evening, around 11:24 p.m., Brattleboro Police officers responded to Oak Grove Avenue after receiving multiple reports of a person breaking into their home. When officers arrived, they found Lawrence C. Bates, 47, and took him into custody. Their investigation revealed that Bates broke into a home through a window, then threatened a resident and said he had a gun. No weapons were displayed and when Bates was arrested he had no weapons on him. Bates then entered a second home where he was arrested. Police say no one was injured in either incident. Bates faces charges of burglary and unlawful trespass. He was transported to the Brattleboro Police Department, where he was held on $1,000.00 bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Windham County Superior Court on Monday, June 17.
