On June 20, deputies received reports that someone was “yelling for help,” Ashley Keehn, public information officer for the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office, told McClatchy News in a statement .

After responding to the area, deputies used a drone to pinpoint McClish's exact location, Keehn said.

Deputies did not say how McClish ended up in the “heavily wooded” area.

Cal Fire personnel and crew members from the Boulder Creek Fire Department helped bring McClish to safety, Keehn said.

“We are happy he is home,” firefighters said.

Boulder Creek is about 70 miles southeast of San Francisco.
