Manitowoc man arrested in alleged July 4th stabbing in Two Rivers

TWO RIVERS, Wis. (WFRV) – A 62-year-old man was arrested in Manitowoc County on July 4 after allegedly stabbing a 51-year-old woman multiple times.

According to a release, deputies from the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Office and officers from the Two Rivers Police Department were dispatched to an address in Two Rivers Township for a report of a woman who had been stabbed.

Upon arrival, authorities found two individuals on the property with apparent stab wounds. A 51-year-old woman was found in the backyard with multiple stab wounds and other injuries, while a 62-year-old man, later identified as Calvin C. Eis, was found inside the home with a stab wound to the abdomen, which was found to be self-inflicted.

Eis was arrested and transported to the Manitowoc County Jail and is being held on charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, strangulation/suffocation and possession of narcotics.

On Monday, July 8, Eis attended his bail hearing, where bail was set at $500,000, according to the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Office. Additionally, authorities say this was an isolated incident and the community was not in danger.
