Sheriff's Office arrests man suspected of murder

VCSO is investigating a homicide at a home in the 2400 block of Avenida de las Plantas.

The Ventura County Sheriff's Office arrested a Thousand Oaks man on suspicion of murder Wednesday evening.

Investigators believe Edward Fegley, 80, shot his roommate, also 80, a sheriff's office spokesperson said. The name of the deceased has not yet been released.

The VCSO spokesperson said deputies responded to a call requesting a welfare check at the single-family home located in the 2400 block of Avenida de las Plantas shortly after 10 p.m. on June 19.

“Upon arrival, officers found a man who had been shot,” said Sgt. Cyrus Zadeh. “The preliminary investigation indicates that there was a physical altercation between two roommates who lived in the residence. »

Fegley was at the home when deputies arrived for the welfare check, Zadeh said. He was questioned by investigators and then taken into custody for murder.

Fegley was booked into the county pre-trial detention center where he is currently being held on $500,000 bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Ventura County Superior Court on Monday, June 24.
