Texas man wanted for 'numerous violent crimes' arrested in Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A Texas man wanted for what police called “numerous violent crimes” was arrested in Myrtle Beach last week.

Records show that Anthony Ansel Medrano, 33, of Conroe, Texas, was taken into custody on July 3.

A police report obtained by WMBF News says Myrtle Beach Police Department officers said an officer spotted Medrano on 25th Avenue North, noting he matched the description of a previously sent alert.

The officer made contact with Medrano and confirmed that he was the person mentioned in the alert. When another officer arrived, Medrano allegedly fled on foot and was given multiple orders to stop.

Police were able to locate and arrest him on 27th Avenue North.

According to the report, dispatchers later confirmed he was wanted on multiple charges in Texas. An arrest warrant for Medrano in Myrtle Beach also stated he was wanted on “weapons charges and numerous pending violent felonies.”

WMBF News has reached out to authorities in the county where Medrano was wanted for more information on these pending charges.

Online records show Medrano remained at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center as of Wednesday afternoon.
