VPD seeks suspect wanted in Valdosta shooting investigation

VALDOSTA – The Valdosta Police Department is searching for a suspect wanted in connection with a shooting in Valdosta involving two brothers.


On July 10, 2024, at approximately 10:35 a.m., multiple first responders responded to the 700 block of East Mary Street after a citizen called E911 and reported being shot. When Valdosta Police officers responded to the area, they found two brothers, both in their 30s, suffering from gunshot wounds. They immediately administered first aid until Valdosta Fire Department and South Georgia Medical Center Emergency Medical Services arrived. Both brothers were transported to South Georgia Medical Center. One of the men sustained non-life threatening injuries, while the other is currently in critical condition.

Detectives and crime scene personnel responded and are currently conducting an active investigation.

Witnesses described a tall, thin African-American man wearing dark pants and a white shirt who was seen fleeing the area. Other witnesses described seeing tattoos on his face.

K9 units from the Valdosta Police Department and Lowndes County Sheriff's Office responded to the area, but the suspect was not located.

The investigation is ongoing and no further information is being released.
